We have been offering values-based, foundation level training to early school leavers and adults since 1983.

What We Do
Community Colleges NZ is a charitable training establishment with five colleges South Island-wide, providing practical, job-focused foundation training to people 16+ years of age. We were an early adopter of unit standards and National Qualifications to ensure graduates gained recognised & transportable qualifications. We support students to gain the skills, qualifications & confidence to pursue further training or a career. We also operate a Youth Service to assist 16-18 year olds into education, training or work-based learning.

Our Unique Approach
We have always known that a one size fits all approach to education is not a model for success.  We emphasise  individual learning needs and are the only tertiary provider in NZ with a focus on kinesthetic (practical & hands-on) learning with small class sizes.  Our priority is for our students to fulfill their potential and to provide them with the emotional support they need to succeed.

We believe that with the right environment, everyone can learn and succeed.  At ComCol, students experience a friendly and supportive learning atmosphere where they receive the individual attention necessary to build confidence and to overcome any learning difficulties.

Our Programmes
Our focus is on foundation training at levels 1-4 of the National Qualifications Framework. Our practical training programmes incorporate NZQA unit standards and provide students with the skills and confidence to pursue their chosen career. We offer training from 12 - 44 weeks in length in a variety of exciting programmes including hospitality, outdoors, hairdressing and community care and support.
