YOUTH COURSE: Cafe (Level 2)

This 1 year course covers the basics required to work in a café environment and is the first step towards a career in the Front of House service industry with a Level 2 national qualification.

    A course giving a practical introduction to front of house skills for those who want to learn more about the cafe/restaurant industry.

    A career in the Front of House service industry can lead to numerous opportunities such as working on cruise ships, top hotels and restaurants or cafes and bars.

    The course covers:

    - Food & beverage service & table service
    - Cafe food preparation & presentation
    - Coffee making skills & operating barista equipment
    - Customer service & cash handling
    Embedded literacy & numeracy

  • > Course Fees & Eligibility: FREE for 16-19 year olds *

    To participate in this course and qualify for free training under the Youth Guarantee initiative, students must:

    - be 16-19 years of age at the start of the Youth Guarantee programme;
    - be a New Zealand citizen or have New Zealand permanent residency;
    - be prepared to study full-time for 1 year in a level 1-3 programme;
    - not be enrolled in school & a Youth Guarantee programme simultaneously;
