JOB CONNECTION: Training For Work

Our 13 week Training For Work course experiences a high rate of employment outcome success. Participants in this course are referred to us by Work and Income.

  • > Course Outline:

    The aim of this course is for people to gain the necessary skills, confidence and experience that will assist them in finding employment with prospects within 13 weeks

    The course is ideal for those that are ready for work but just need some assistance to get there.    

    Financial Assistance:
    A travel allowance is granted to those who live on the outskirts of town to help with travel costs. Work & Income can also help with Transition to Work Grants to assist with interview costs such as clothes, travel and tools.

    The course covers:

    - Life skills and self confidence
    - Computer application skills
    - Skill identification and career planning
    - Personal presentation and time management
    - Communication and teamwork
    - CV preparation, interview skills and job search 
    - Qualification opportunities
    - Food preparation/presentation, cafe service, food and beverage knowledge
    - Retail, cash handling and an emphasis on customer service; 
    - Literacy and numeracy support

    To participate & qualify for a free Job Connection training course students must: 

    - be a New Zealand citizen or Permanent Resident;
    - be 18 years of age or over;
    - be registered with Work & Income & referred by them
