Licence Controller Qualification

This 1 1/2 day programme covers the requirements of the Licence Controller Qualification (LCQ).  This qualification is required by anyone applying to the District Licensing Agency for a General/Club Manager's Certificate.  The following NZQA unit standards are awarded upon successful completion of the course:

  • 16705 Demonstrate knowledge of host responsibility requirements as a duty manager
  • 4646 Demonstrate knowledge of the Sale of Liquor Act 1989 and its implications for licensed premises

Satisfactory completion of the training does not guarantee that a General Managers' Certificate will be granted by the District Licensing Agency (DLA).  Applications, along with the necessary fees, are processed and approved by the DLA.  The DLA have a strict range of additional criteria that applicants must meet, including industry employment and character checks.

This training is supported by the Waimakariri District Council, Community & Public Health and the New Zealand Police.
