Excelerate (Youth Guarantee)

Full time - 36 weeks

Adventures in Learning

Excelerate is offered under the Youth Guarantee scheme (see eligibility criteria).  It is designed for 16 and 17 year old adults who are looking for a broad base programme.  It combines great workplace skills with vocational experiences and adventure based learning.  Personal development and employment skills are combined in a challenging and fun way.

Ag Start (Youth Guarantee)

The Ag Start programme combines fundamental employment skills with real-life farming experiences. This hands-on training programme is a great way to gain vocational qualifications. Literacy and numeracy is embedded in the programme. This programme is offered under the Youth Guarantee scheme.

Cookery

CookeryThe Cookery Programme is ideal for those who would like to train for a career as a chef. Working in the hospitality industry can lead to numerous opportunities such as working on cruise ships, top hotels and restaurants or cafes and bars.

Wherever possible we will tailor the programme to meet your individual needs and career goals. This programme can include:

  • the preparation and presentation of café style food
  • characteristics of commercial cookery
  • preparation of various cooking methods including baking, roasting, grilling, frying and steaming
  • using and maintaining knives
  • food safety methods and contamination hazards
  • stock takes, food portioning, food preparation for large functions
  • literacy and numeracy

HairdressingThis Job Connection Programme is ideal for those who would like to train for a career in the hairdressing or beauty industry. All credits gained can be carried over to an apprenticeship. It is possible once completing this programme to take one year off your apprenticeship.

  • shampoo and conditioning, blow waves, colour application and removal

Over 26 weeks participants learn a wide range of skills to prepare them for a job in retail or warehousing. The programme also covers the communication and personal development skills to ensure workplace success.
