Community Colleges New Zealand is an NZQA registered training provider offering entry level qualifications and training programmes based on NZQA unit standards. Our aim is to provide every student with the skills and knowledge required to pursue their chosen career.
National Certificate in Employment Skills - Level 1 
The National Certificate in Employment Skills is awarded to people who have demonstrated competence in literacy, oracy, numeracy and other personal and technical skills. These skills have been identified by a wide range of employers as being important in the workplace. This qualification accepts credit from both unit standards and achievement standards.
This qualification is designed to be flexible and accessible so that people are able to demonstrate some of the required competencies in alternative fields as well as exercising open elective choice for part of the credit requirement.
In addition, this qualification is intended to act as a springboard from which people may progress towards other qualifications.

National Certificate in Hospitality (Introductory Cookery) - Level 2 
This qualification recognises the competence, knowledge, and skills required for cooking routine food dishes in a commercial kitchen. It is awarded to people who are able to demonstrate a range of foundation cookery methods and a limited range of preparation techniques, using pre-prepared and ready-prepared products, under supervision.
The compulsory section of the qualification covers knowledge and skills relating to: participating in a team; preparing fruit and vegetables; preparing and presenting basic sandwiches and salads; cleaning food production areas and equipment; handling knives; food safety; performing calculations; working in a diverse workplace; safe working practices; and frying, baking, boiling, poaching, steaming, and grilling food. The elective section enables candidates to select standards that reflect the requirements of their work or learning environments.
This qualification is designed to provide a pathway to the National Certificate in Hospitality (Basic Cookery) - Level 3.

National Certificate in Hospitality (Basic Cookery) - Level 3 
This qualification recognises the competence, knowledge, and skills required for cooking food dishes and working with the main food ingredients in a commercial kitchen. It is awarded to people who are able to demonstrate, under supervision, the ability to prepare dishes from fresh produce and to cook dishes at an operational level using a range of basic preparation techniques, cookery methods, and finishing techniques. Limited use of pre-prepared and ready-prepared food occurs at this level. The elective section of the qualification enables candidates to choose standards that suit their job roles. This qualification is a progression from the National Certificate in Hospitality (Introductory Cookery) - Level 2.

National Certificate in Hospitality (Entry Skills) - Level 2 
This qualification is designed for people who wish to enter the hospitality industry and gain an overview of the possible career choices available to them. The compulsory section of the qualification covers a range of generic communication and interpersonal skills with some knowledge of the career paths available in the hospitality industry. The elective section enables candidates to choose from a range of hospitality and generic domains to gain further knowledge and skills in their selected career choice.

National Certificate in Hospitality (Food & Beverage Service) - Level 2 
This qualification recognises people who have the competence, knowledge and skills required to work in a food and beverage service role under close supervision in a commercial hospitality environment. Students will complete unit standards in a choice of food and beverage service areas that will support their future employment roles. The qualification will be awarded to people who are able to demonstrate the skills and knowledge necessary to work in a food and beverage service role, including preparation for service, serving food to customers, interacting with customers, safe food handling practices and compliance with health and safety legislation. The holder will also demonstrate a range of interpersonal, personal presentation, numeracy, literacy and teamwork skills required by workers in a commercial food and beverage service environment. This qualification can lead onto the National Certificate in Hospitality (Food and Beverage Service) - Level 3.

National Certificate in Hospitality (Food & Beverage Service) - Level 3 
This qualification recognises the competence, knowledge, and skills required by experienced operators in a food and beverage service role under general supervision in a commercial hospitality environment. Students will complete unit standards in a choice of food and beverage service areas that will support their future employment roles. The qualification will be awarded to people who have demonstrated the skills and knowledge necessary to work in a food and beverage service role, including correct use of service techniques and equipment, customer interaction skills, promotion and up-selling, product knowledge, safe food handling practices, and compliance with health and safety legislation. The holder will also demonstrate a range of interpersonal, personal presentation, numeracy, literacy, and teamwork skills required to work in a commercial food and beverage service environment. This certificate builds on, and has compulsory credits in common with, the National Certificate in Hospitality (Food and Beverage Service) - Level 2.

National Certificate in Hairdressing (Salon Support) - Level 2 
The National Certificate in Hairdressing (Salon Support) is an introductory qualification which recognises holders have the skills and knowledge to provide a limited range of customer services, advise clients about retail hair products, and undertake reception duties and inventory control in a commercial salon. Holders of this qualification are able to provide elementary hairdressing services under supervision of a senior operator and demonstrate customer service skills both over the telephone and face to face.

National Certificate in Business Administration and Computing - Level 2 
The business community seeks people who have a broad range of skills including the ability to use a keyboard, meet production requirements, operate computers, use technology to best advantage, answer telephones, provide customer service, process information, show initiative and contribute positively to the work group or work team. The flexible structure of the qualification recognises this broad range. It allows providers and employers to tailor programmes to meet individual skill needs that reflect the diverse roles and positions required to meet the business administration and information technology needs of the business community at an entry level. The qualification can provide a foundation for the National Certificate in Business Administration and Computing - Level 3 and 4. Alternatively it could lead to other qualifications in the Business, and Computing and Information Technology fields.

National Certificate in Tourism (Introductory Skills) - Level 2 
This qualification has been specifically designed for secondary school students and provides students with an introduction to the tourism industry. It recognises the knowledge and skills required as a base for further training in the tourism industry.The Compulsory section ensures people awarded with this qualification are able to demonstrate knowledge of tourist characteristics and needs, the business of tourism, destination New Zealand, world tourist destinations, and work roles in tourism. This qualification prepares people for entry to the National Certificate in Tourism (Core Skills) - Level 3, which in turn can lead to qualifications and careers in outbound travel such as travel consultancy or wholesale travel, and inbound tourism within the New Zealand tourism industry.

National Certificate in Tourism (Core Skills) - Level 3 
The National Certificate in Tourism (Core Skills) - Level 3 is designed to provide people with a range of skills and knowledge required within the broad spectrum of organisations operating within the wider tourism industry.
People awarded with this qualification are able to demonstrate customer service and communication skills. The qualification also recognises the skills involved in using the English language, and mathematics in the context of the tourism and travel industry. The elective sections recognise the diversity of tourism workplaces and allow candidates to select tourism standards relevant to their workplace and career direction, which includes skills in retail and sales, and competencies from a broad range of NQF domains.
This qualification follows on from the National Certificate in Tourism (Introductory Skills) - Level 2. It serves as a prerequisite qualification for the majority of higher level tourism industry qualifications.

NCEA (National Certificate in Educational Achievement) - Level 1 
This is one of three National Certificates of Educational Achievement (NCEAs) designed to recognise the general achievement of 16 to 19 year old learners. The NCEAs are qualifications registered on the National Qualifications Framework and are intended to be accessible to all sectors of the target market. People certificated at Level 1 have typically shown themselves able to work at directed activities with limited responsibility for decisions about the organisation of their work. The NCEA - Level 1 can lead to NCEAs at Level 2 and 3 or to other specialised qualifications at higher levels.

NCEA (National Certificate in Educational Achievement) - Level 2 
The NCEA - Level 2 is designed to enable access to the foundation skills required for employment. People certificated at Level 2 have typically shown themselves able to integrate knowledge and skills to solve familiar problems; access and use available sources of information; and work in directed activity. The qualification also provides a foundation for further study and knowledge. The NCEA - Level 2 can lead to NCEA - Level 3 or to other specialised qualifications at higher levels.

Equine Qualifications
National Certificate in Stable Practice - Level 3
The holder of a National Certificate in Stable Practice - Level 3 with one of the four strands, Harness Racing, Sporthorse, Thoroughbred Racing, and Track Riding will be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills related to the specific strand, and care and attend to horses situated in and away from their usual environment, whilst under supervision. Students will be awarded the appropriate NZQA unit standards and national certificate, providing nationally recognised certification of the skills and standards achieved. National Certificate in Equine (Community Coach) - Level 3
This certificate is awarded to people who have demonstrated competency in a range of skills to care for horses and coach riders at an introductory level. The qualification recognises a combination of equine care, equine health, and equitation skills required for coaching, which meet the horse management skills and knowledge required by the industry.
This qualification allows holders of the National Certificate in Equine (Stable Practice) - Level 3 to gain the National Certificate in Equine (Community Coach) - Level 3. It is an entry requirement that students applying for this programme hold the National Certificate in Equine (Stable Practice).

The National Certificate in Sport - Level 2 recognises people with the knowledge and skills required to work in the delivery of sport in an elementary capacity.
