We have recently reviewed the services that we offer at Community College North Canterbury to ensure we continue to meet the training and employment needs of the community. We have decided not to renew the Training for Work ‘Job Connection’ and ‘Work Based Training’ programmes at our College after 30 June 2013. Our decision has not been taken lightly as we have provided these services since we began in 1983 and have long term staff extremely skilled in this area of training.
View a clever animated video capturing the essence of creativity expert Sir Ken Robinson's talk about the need for a paradigm shift in education.
We like this video because it highlights the negative impact in society of conformity and standardisation in education - a production line mentality which treats children as batches and not individuals. Ken also points out that collaboration, divergent thinking and therefore creativity are not encouraged in traditional education. What do you think about this?
