Hospitality The Hospitality programmes provide students with a broad base of skills covering all aspects of the hospitality industry.
These programmes are ideal for people wishing to gain an introduction to hospitality, before focusing on one area in which to gain employment. Once students have completed NZQA Unit Standards 167 and 168,which are food safety based, they immediately qualify for a NZQA Food Hygiene Certificate – one that is recognised throughout the hospitality industry.
Cookery This qualification recognises the competence, knowledge and skills required for cooking routine food dishes in a commercial kitchen. It is awarded to people who are able to demonstrate a range of foundation cookery methods, involving safe food handling and identifying, food contamination hazards, using and maintaining knives, and characteristics of commercial cookery.

- National Certificate in Hospitality - Cookery – Level 2
- National Certificate in Hospitality - Cookery – Level 3
Food and Beverage This qualification recognises people who have the competence, knowledge and skills required to work in a food and beverage service role in a commercial environment. You have a choice of the following food service strands – counter, takeaway, table, buffet or beverage. Some students may wish to complete more than one strand.
National Certificate in Hospitality – Food & Beverage – Table Food Service This certificate requires the student to be competent in preparing and clearing areas for table food service, and providing basic table food service in a commercial environment.
National Certificate in Hospitality – Food & Beverage – Buffet Food Service This certificate requires the student to be competent in preparing and clearing areas for buffet food service, and providing basic buffet food service in a commercial environment.
National Certificate in Hospitality – Food & Beverage – Takeaway Food Service This certificate requires the student to be competent in preparing and clearing areas and serving takeaway food in a commercial environment. It also requires students to prepare food orders for takeaway food service in a commercial environment.
National Certificate in Hospitality – Food & Beverage – Counter Food Service This certificate requires the student to be competent in preparing and clearing areas for counter food service, and providing basic counter food service in a commercial environment.
Students of our hospitality courses often leave with more than one certificate, as many competencies overlap. This allows students to arm themselves with a barrel of qualifications to impress!
