Course Outline

The course covers:

• Customer service & cash handling
• Sales skills
• Working in a team
• Introductory salon skills
• Personal presentation
• Consumer & Fair Trading Acts
• Hair colouring and more

Qualifications: Level 2

• ​New Zealand Certificate in Salon Skills (Introductory) (Level 2)
• New Zealand Certificate in Retail (Customer Service and Sales Support) (Level 2)
• NCEA Level 1
• NCEA Level 2

Course Length

44 weeks, full-time, Monday to Friday

Start Dates

• February 2021

Locations

Salon Support is only available in Timaru at Community College South Canterbury. ​

Course Fees & Eligibility

To participate in this course and qualify for free training under the Youth Guarantee (YG) initiative, students must:

• be 16-19 years of age at the start of the Youth Guarantee programme
• be a New Zealand citizen or have New Zealand permanent residency
• be prepared to study full-time for 1 year in a level 1-3 programme
• not be enrolled in school and a Youth Guarantee programme simultaneously
